Planning & Zoning
Planning & Zoning Division aims to promote public health, safety and welfare of the community by guiding development of the built environment. The Planning and Zoning Division is dedicated to improving the quality of life of all Oakbrook Terrace residents, creating an environment that welcomes visitors and fosters new investment. The Planning and Zoning Division works with staff in other departments, other units of government, elected officials, city council members and community members, to implement these goals.
The Division provides technical and professional advice regarding planning, zoning, subdivision planning, planned unit developments and sign regulation activities. The Division promotes and oversees coordinated, continuous, and comprehensive short and long term urban planning for the future growth and development of the City.
The Planning & Zoning Division is responsible for the following services:
- Process rezonings, variations, special uses, subdivisions, planned unit developments and annexation requests
- Review New Development
- Guide Applicants through the Entitlement Process
- Long Range & Short Range Planning (i.e. Comprehensive Plan update and sub-area plans)
- Coordinate with other departments
- Coordinate with other agencies (IDOT, IEPA, DuPage County)
- Information Dispersion
- Zoning Code Administration
- Staff liaison to the Planning & Zoning Commission
- Provides demographic information
