Inspection Information
Throughout your project, various inspections will be required to ensure compliance with city codes. All inspections must be scheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice.
How to schedule an inspection
Inspections can be scheduled through our Online Permitting Portal or by phone.
1. Online Permitting Portal (Preferred Method): Easily schedule an inspection through the Online Permitting Portal:
Log in to your account.
- Open the workspace for your project.
- Scroll down to the Inspection section and select “Request Inspection” for the appropriate inspection.
- In the notes section, please provide the contact name and phone number of the person on-site for the inspection.
2. Phone: Call the Community Development Department at 630-941-8300 ext. 209 and provide:
- Contact name and phone number of the person for the inspection.
- Project name and address.
- Permit number.
- Type of inspection requested.
Inspection Hours
- Building, Electrical, and Mechanical Inspections: Conducted Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Plumbing Inspections: Conducted Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Important: The plumber of record must be on-site for all plumbing inspections.

To schedule an inspection for a fire alarm or fire sprinkler, you must contact the Fire District directly to which you submitted plans.
