UPDATE Animal Cruelty
Monday, January 29, 2024
The City of Oakbrook Terrace has been and continues to be deeply saddened since the initiation of the investigation into the report of a 7-year-old child who abused an animal within our community. Our organization is committed to the safety and well-being of all living things, and we take these allegations very seriously.
We are pleased to announce that the animal was examined by a licensed veterinarian on Friday, January 26, 2024, and determined to be a very happy and healthy young dog.
We have worked closely with the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Anti-Cruelty Society, and the Department of Children and Family Services to thoroughly investigate these matters. The purpose of our investigation has been to ensure that justice is served and to prevent further harm to the animal involved. However, all agencies involved are restricted to the authority vested in them by the Illinois Compiled Statutes, regardless of emotion and personal feelings.
We would like to express our gratitude to the community for their ongoing support and cooperation during this challenging time. Together, we can work towards creating a safer environment for both residents and animals alike.
