Community Safety Announcement
To our Oakbrook Terrace community members,
I am writing to update you on the dispute regarding a decision by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to turn off and cover the red-light cameras at the intersection of Illinois Route 83 and 22nd Street.
As I communicated to you in June, your safety at home, at work, or at play, and when traveling throughout our region is our top priority. We worked diligently to turn the cameras back on because more than 230,000 drivers have run red lights at that intersection.
I am pleased to report that DuPage County Judge Craig Belford issued a ruling on Monday, August 22, 2022, to reinstate the city’s right to operate its red-light cameras at that intersection.
I will let you know when the cameras are operational again.
