Garbage & Recycling Pick-Up
Effective January 1, 2020 Garbage pickup will be on Monday.

Refuse and Recycling
Every resident is urged to continue with the City Council’s goal to encourage recycling and reducing the amount of refuse brought to landfills.
All refuse must be placed in the Flood Bros. provided two-wheeled refuse container. Any additional refuse containers or bags will require a $2.00 refuse sticker to be affixed to the extra containers or bags placed at the curb for collection. If the extra containers or bags do not have a sticker, it will not be collected. (No sticker required for yard waste.)
Refuse stickers may be purchased at City Hall and at Flood Brothers Disposal.
Bulk Items
Bulk items are refuse that cannot be reduced to fit into the 65-gallon or 35-gallon wheeled container, such as discarded furniture, fixtures, household appliances of all kinds, including white goods, and small amounts of construction debris. Bulk items are collected for free, but you must call Flood Brothers for bulk item pick-up as it may require two workers to remove the item.
Special Pick-Ups
A Special Pick-Up is drywall, plywood, paneling, carpeting, disassembled kitchen and bathroom fixtures, sod, clay, sand, stone, concrete, rocks, or any other loose small items or construction materials that are not suitable for placement in containers and that exceed fifty (50) pounds in weight, or that are in bundles exceeding four feet (4’) in length and two feet (2’) in diameter. Residents need to call Flood Brothers to schedule a Special Pick-Up. The collection will be within 48-hours and will cost an amount specified by the contract.

Proper Placement of Refuse/Recycling Receptacles
Residents are reminded that when placing refuse and recycling toters at the street, there should be three feet between receptacles and handles should be pointed toward the house, so that toters can be picked up automatically by Flood Brothers trucks.
Hazardous Waste
Millions of computers, printers, fax machines and other electronic equipment become obsolete each year. Disposing of this unwanted material can be problematic; the lead, mercury and other toxic substances found in these items make them unsuitable for disposal in local landfills. Recycling is a responsible, effective way of disposing of unneeded, excess or obsolete equipment.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has classified most electronic scrap as hazardous waste. This "e-waste" is a growing global problem; in the US alone, it is reported that over 30 million PCs are scrapped each year. Improper disposal of this waste would add dangerous amounts of heavy metals such as lead and mercury, and toxic chemicals such as polybrominated flame retardants to our country's landfills.
